Budding Murrays heading to Team Bath for international tennis tournament

Aspiring tennis aces from around the world will be serving up a treat at the University of Bath later this month when it hosts a Tennis Europe youth competition.

Grand Slam winners Andy Murray, Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal are among the hundreds of players who have developed their skills on the Junior Tour during its 26-year history.

Now the latest crop of talented teenagers will be competing at the Nike Junior International Bath, in association with COMPETE, from August 27 to September 4 on the Sports Training Village’s indoor courts.

There will be boys’ and girls’ singles and double categories in both the U14 and U16 age groups, comprising of 48 players – 32 via the main draw and 16 more through qualifiers – in each event.

The entry list will feature players from across Europe, as well as far afield as Brazil and Peru.

Qualifying rounds will take place on August 28 and 29, for U14s and U16s respectively, before the main competitions get under way on August 30.

Spectators are welcome to watch the action for free, with matches taking place on all eight indoor courts.
