Walker and Wilson finish 12th

19 February 2014

Paula Walker and Rebekah Wilson finished in 12th position in the 2-woman bobsleigh as the competition came to an end this evening at the Sochi Winter Olympics.

The duo, who do part of their training at the University of Bath, maintained their solid start from yesterday’s heats to post a total time of 3:54.24.

The third heat saw the pair post their slowest time of the competition, crossing the line in 58.88, but it was enough for them to hold off the Canadian challenge and make 12th place their own.

That gave them an opportunity to concentrate on sneaking in to the top ten by the end of the fourth final heat.

However, Walker and Wilson sadly just fell short. Their final time of 58.60 was the tenth fastest in the final run, but it wasn’t enough to move them up the overall table, finishing 12th with a time of 3:54.24.

The medals were won by Canadian and American sleighs. Canada’s Kaillie Humphries and Heather Moyse took the gold, while American pair Elana Meyers and Lauryn Williams claimed silver and their compatriots Jamie Greubel and Aja Evans won the bronze.
