Blue and Gold stars past and present play key roles in another Quad Series cracker

A whole host of Team Bath Netball players past and present produced star performances for both teams as England were edged out 54-51 by South Africa in another thrilling Quad Series match in New Zealand on Sunday.

Kadeen Corbin was once again in the starting seven for England and Eboni Beckford-Chambers was on the bench as coach Tracey Neville stuck with the team that began Wednesday’s stunning win over the Silver Ferns.

Corbin scored with 10 of her 13 attempts during an evenly-matched first half that finished all square at 26-26. However, despite the introduction of former Team Bath player Stacey Francis into the England defence, South Africa were able to make a third-quarter push that ultimately proved decisive.

Former Blue and Gold shooter Lenize Potgieter scored with 43 of her 45 shots – an outstanding 96% conversion rate – and Karla Mostert made some vital interceptions at key moments as the Proteas took the victory in a high-quality game.

Serena Guthrie, Ama Agbeze and Geva Mentor were the other former Team Bath players to line up for England, who are staying on in New Zealand to face the Silver Ferns in a three-match international series that starts on Thursday.

Corbin and Beckford-Chambers will be in action for Team Bath Netball at the British Fast5 All-Stars Championship, taking place at The O2 Arena in London on Saturday, September 23. Click here for more information and to buy tickets in the Blue and Gold section.
