Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games medallists celebrated at parade ahead of Team Bath Netball match

07 May 2018

The sparkling achievements of University of Bath-based medallists from the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games were celebrated on Bank Holiday Monday when they were paraded in front of an appreciative four-figure crowd at Team Bath Netball‘s Vitality Superleague match against Severn Stars.

Athlete Eilidh Doyle and triathlete Vicky Holland, who both won silver in Australia, were joined on court by British Swimming National Centre stars Siobhan-Marie O’Connor, James Guy, Cameron Kurle and Chloe Tutton plus University of Bath student-swimmer Anna Hopkin – they won 11 medals between them, including five for Guy and 200m individual medley gold for O’Connor.

They received a huge round of applause from the netball crowd before being interviewed on court by match-day presenter Kate Grey and Samantha Murray, the Olympic modern pentathlon silver-medallist.

Eboni Beckford-Chambers and Kadeen Corbin, Team Bath’s historic gold-medallists with the England Netball squad, were warming up in the background but had enjoyed their own moment in the spotlight after Friday’s win over Celtic Dragons.
