50 days to Tokyo: Bath-based swimmers continue Olympic prep and seek final Team GB places at British Swimming Glasgow Meet

03 June 2021

With 50 days to go until the Tokyo Olympic Games begin, swimmers based at the University of Bath will have another chance to hone their race preparations as the British Swimming Glasgow Meet gets under way in Scotland.

More than 300 athletes will be competing at the Tollcross International Swimming Centre over the next four days, the largest and most inclusive event run by British Swimming and its partners since the return to the competition arena under COVID protocols.

The entrants include all nine Bath-based swimmers already selected by Team GB for this summer’s Olympic Games – Freya Anderson, Kieran Bird, James Guy, Jacob Peters, Ben Proud, Matt Richards, Brodie Williams, University of Bath sporting scholar Tom Dean and Sports Performance graduate Calum Jarvis.

It is also the final consideration meet for those looking to secure a place on the British Olympic team, with some individual and relay places still to be allocated.

Also among the entrants from the British Swimming National Centre Bath and University of Bath student swim squads are sporting scholars Leah Crisp, Jacob Greenow, William Ryley and Luke Turley, as well as Jono Adam, Holly Hibbott, Emily Large and Ciara Schlosshan.
