11 November 2021

University of Bath alumni Cameron and Alastair Chalmers are among the first six sportspeople to be officially selected by Guernsey for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.

The brothers, who both studied Sports Performance, will compete in the 400m and 400m hurdles respectively when the Games take place at the Alexander Stadium in Birmingham from 28 July to 8 August 2022.

Older brother Cameron represented the island at the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games and made his Olympic debut for Team GB earlier this year at Tokyo 2020, competing in both the men’s and mixed 4x400m relays.

Alastair, a Commonwealth Youth Games gold-medallist in 2017, secured his place at next summer’s senior Games by setting a personal best of 49.55 at the Resisprint International in Switzerland earlier this year.
