15 April 2022

Seven University of Bath-based swimmers, including four Olympic gold-medallists, have been named in the British Swimming squad for this summer’s FINA World Aquatics Championships in Budapest, Hungary.

Double Olympic champions Tom Dean and James Guy are joined in the 23-strong team by fellow Tokyo 2020 gold-medallists Freya Anderson and Matt Richards, plus Olympians Jacob Peters and Brodie Williams. All are part of the hugely-successful British Swimming National Centre Bath squad, based at the Team Bath Sports Training Village.

Also selected is reigning World Short-Course Champion Ben Proud, who is coached by Mark Skimming with the University of Bath swimming squad, and alumna Anna Hopkin.

The 2022 World Championships – taking place from 17th June to 3rd July – is the benchmark meet for Britain’s elite swimmers at the start of a busy summer of aquatics action and the beginning of the three-year cycle into the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

The 50m swimming pool used by the British swimmers for their training is also open to the public seven days a week. Click here to see the timetable and find out how to book your session.
