Bath alumna Natasha Hunt “absolutely buzzing” after winning second Women’s Rugby World Cup title with England on record-breaking day
University of Bath alumna Natasha Hunt said she was “so overwhelmed” to win the second Women’s Rugby World Cup title of her outstanding career on home soil after helping England to a 33-13 victory over Canada.
A record-breaking crowd of 81,885 spectators at Twickenham Stadium roared Hunt and her Red Roses team-mates to glory at the end of a memorable month of competition.

It means that England regain the title they last won in 2014 when Canada again provided the opposition in a final which, like Saturday’s showdown, also saw Hunt start at scrum-half. She and Alex Matthews were the only Roses players to feature in both matches.
“This is unimaginable – the day, the whole tournament,” said Hunt. “To walk out in front of nearly 82,000 and perform like that, I could not be prouder of the girls. I am so overwhelmed, I am absolutely buzzing.
“I don’t think any of us could have imagined it would ever be like this and that is testament to everyone behind the scenes, and also everyone for showing up and hopefully they are here to stay.”
It was a third World Cup Final for Hunt, who studied Coach Education and Sports Development from 2007 to 2010 during which time she represented the University women’s 1st XV, played for England U20s and represented GB at the 2010 World University 7s Championships.
