Team Hall finish just off the podium as Bath-based bobsleigh and skeleton athletes resume World Cup campaign
Team Hall began Winter Olympic year with British Bobsleigh’s best result of the 2025-26 IBSF World Cup season to date when racing resumed in Winterberg, Germany after the Christmas break.
With experienced brakeman Taylor Lawrence back in the sled after injury, Brad Hall steered the GBR1 four-man bobsleigh crew – which also included Leon Greenwood and Greg Cackett – to fourth place, moving up one position from the last World Cup of 2025 in Lillehammer.
The Brits, who train at the University of Bath, sat third after the first run on Sunday and, despite being edged out of the podium places, they remained the best-placed non-German team in the field with a combined time of 1 minute 49.32 seconds.
Adele Nicoll also claimed her best monobob result of the season when she placed 12th on Saturday before teaming up with Ashleigh Nelson for 18th place in the two-woman race the following day.
Friday’s skeleton action was affected by heavy snow which forced the men’s race to be abandoned after the first run. The mixed team race was also cancelled but the women’s race was able to go ahead and saw Freya Tarbit record a second-successive sixth-place finish to join fellow Brits Tabby Stoecker and Amelia Coltman in the world’s top-10 rankings.
The British Bobsleigh and Skeleton Association (BBSA) is based at the University of Bath, a UK Sport-accredited Elite Training Centre, with the athletes doing their home training on the UK’s only outdoor push-start track, as well as in the gym and on the indoor sprint track at the Sports Training Village.
