First medals of Olympic season on the board for British Bobsleigh as Brad Hall and Taylor Lawrence bag European bronze
British Bobsleigh secured their first medals of Olympic season when Brad Hall and Taylor Lawrence finished a fantastic third in the two-man race in St Moritz.
That result meant the University of Bath-based duo collected two bronze medals as the IBSF World Cup also doubled as the 2026 European Championships.
It was the first time the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympians had raced together in the two-man since last year’s World Championships after a calf injury sidelined Lawrence for the first two months of this season.
The duo raced again in the four-man on Sunday, finishing 0.23 outside the medal places in eighth. Leon Greenwood featured alongside Hall, Lawrence and Greg Cackett in the first heat before Ben Simons replaced Greenwood for the second run.
In the women’s competitions, Adele Nicoll and Kya Placide were 18th on Sunday, 24 hours after Nicoll finished 17th in the monobob. Both results moved up to 11th in the European Championships.
Nicoll, Placide and Ashleigh Nelson now head to Igls for a double Europa Cup race, while the men’s GB1 team will be in Germany for the final World Cup race of the season in Altenberg.
The British Bobsleigh and Skeleton Association (BBSA) is based at the University of Bath, a UK Sport-accredited Elite Training Centre, with the athletes doing their home training on the UK’s only outdoor push-start track, as well as in the gym and on the indoor sprint track at the Sports Training Village.
