Top-five finishes in Altenberg ensure British Bobsleigh’s Team Hall place fourth in Overall World Cup combined rankings
British Bobsleigh recorded two top-five finishes as they ended the 2025-26 IBSF World Cup season on a strong note in Altenberg, Germany.
Brad Hall and his four-man crew, who train at the University of Bath, were the top non-home team on the notoriously tough track as they placed fourth overall, equalling their season-best result from Winterberg two weeks earlier.
Hall, Taylor Lawrence and Greg Cackett teamed up with Ben Simons on Run 1 and Leon Greenwood on Run 2 to clock a time of 1:49.64, with the result also securing fourth place for Team Hall in the Overall World Cup standings.
The previous day had seen Hall and Lawrence place fifth in the two-man, putting them sixth overall for that discipline. That meant Hall and co finish fourth in the combined world rankings, again establishing themselves as the best crew outside of the three leading German sleds going into the Milano-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games.
Away from the World Cup circuit, GB’s women athletes produced medal-winning performances at the Europe Cup in Innsbruck. Adele Nicoll struck gold in the women’s monobob and then teamed up with Ashleigh Nelson to win two-woman bronze the following day.
The British Bobsleigh and Skeleton Association (BBSA) is based at the University of Bath, a UK Sport-accredited Elite Training Centre, with the athletes doing their home training on the UK’s only outdoor push-start track, as well as in the gym and on the indoor sprint track at the Sports Training Village.
