Silver for Jacob Peters completes quartet of relay medals for Bath-based swimmers at Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games
Swimmers from the University of Bath ended the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games with four medals between them after Jacob Peters helped Team England win men’s 4x100m medley relay silver on the final night of competition at the Tollcross International Centre.
The Aquatics GB Bath Performance Centre swimmer (pictured) helped England to victory in the morning’s heats with a 52.64 split for the butterfly leg. England went on to finish runners-up to Australia in the last final of the week.
It is a third successive medley relay medal at a Commonwealth Games for Peters, who also placed sixth in the 50m butterfly (23.46) during a busy evening.
Computer Science student Jack Skerry narrowly missed out on a medal for the second time this week as he finished fourth in the 100m backstroke (53.43), emulating his finish in the 50m final. Training partners Matthew Ward (53.62) and Cam Brooker (53.73) were sixth and seventh respectively.
Brooker had previously won two silver medals with Team England, in the 4x100m and 4x200m freestyle relays, while Bill Whiteley Sporting Scholar Ward had led off for Team Scotland as they won mixed 4x100m medley relay bronze. He also swam in the men’s medley final on Wednesday as Scotland finished fifth.
The penultimate round of netball pool matches saw Trendell Sporting Scholar Jayda Pechova and Bath alumna Imogen Allison help England to a 94-32 victory over Tonga. They now face South Africa in a decisive Pool A showdown on Thursday (9pm), with the winners progressing to the semi-finals.
Team Bath Netball duo Poppy Tydeman and Lowri Windsor got to experience playing against the reigning world champions as Wales put up a good battle in a 65-37 defeat to New Zealand. They conclude their Pool B matches on Thursday against Jamaica (7pm).
