Sports Performance graduate Lloyd Wallace soars into second Team GB Winter Olympic Games squad after Beijing 2022 aerial skiing selection

21 January 2022

University of Bath graduate Lloyd Wallace will represent Team GB at a second Winter Olympic Games after being named in the skiing squad for Beijing 2022.

Wallace, who was supported by a Santander Sports Scholarship while studying Sports Performance at the University, will be Britain’s sole representative in the aerial skiing competition when it takes place on 15th and 16th February.

Just 25 spots were available in the Olympic competition and Wallace’s place was confirmed following the quota reallocation process by the FIS (Federation of International Skiing) after he narrowly missed out on automatic qualification.

Wallace, who was also supported by the Team Bath Dual Career Programme and Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme (TASS) during his studies, became Team GB’s first aerial skier to compete at a Winter Olympic Games for two decades when he finished 20th overall at PyeongChang 2018. He took a break from the sport after that before returning to the circuit in 2020.

Both his parents skied at the Winter Olympics – dad Robin in 1988 and mum Jilly in both 1992 and 1996 – while younger sister Elodie, who also studied Sports Performance, represented GB in aerial skiing at the 2017 World University Games.

Applications for 2022-23 sporting scholarships are now being taken from current and potential University of Bath student-athletes. Click here to find out more.
