In-form para-triathlete Michael Taylor becomes latest Bath-based sportsperson officially selected for Paris 2024 Paralympic Games

23 July 2024

University of Bath-based para-triathlete Michael Taylor will be looking to continue his medal-winning form when he heads to Paris next month for his second Paralympic Games.

Taylor, who trains with the British Triathlon Bath National Performance Centre squad at the Team Bath Sports Training Village, has been on the podium in four of his five World Triathlon Para Series international races during 2024, winning gold in three of them.

If he can continue that form in Paris, he will improve on the seventh-placed finish he recorded while making his para-triathlon debut at the rescheduled Tokyo Games in 2021.

Taylor, a lower-leg amputee who competes in the PTS4 category, was inspired to get into the sport after watching it on television when paratriathlon made its Paralympics debut at Rio 2016.

He is the seventh Bath-based athlete to be selected by ParalympicsGB for Paris, joining Dan Bethell (para-badminton), Suzanna Hext (para-swimming) and Gemma Collis, Dimitri Coutya, Piers Gilliver and Oliver Lam-Watson (wheelchair fencing).
