University of Bath reaccredited as UK Sport Elite Training Centre
The University of Bath has been reaccredited as a UK Sport Elite Training Centre (ETC), recognising its ongoing role in supporting Olympic and Paralympic athletes to achieve success on the world stage.
The accreditation, first awarded in 2023, highlights the University’s contribution to providing world-class daily training environments, bringing together high-quality facilities, expert practitioners and a strong performance culture to support athletes and coaches.
As part of the UK Sport network of Elite Training Centres, the University of Bath works collaboratively with centres across the UK to support a connected and high-performing system, enabling athletes to access the environments and expertise they need to succeed.
This network of centres plays a vital role in the UK’s high-performance system, creating environments that bring together people, expertise and facilities to drive performance and support sustained Olympic and Paralympic success.
Since 2000, athletes based at the Team Bath Sports Training Village (STV) have won medals at every Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games and all Winter Olympic Games bar one. The most recent successes were the gold medals for British Skeleton’s Matt Weston and Tabby Stoecker at Milano-Cortina 2026.

The STV is home to National Governing Bodies and training groups in sports as diverse as bobsleigh and skeleton (British Bobsleigh and Skeleton Association), swimming (Aquatics GB), para fencing (British Fencing), modern pentathlon (Pentathlon GB), rowing (British Rowing) and triathlon (British Triathlon).
Athletes benefit from access to world-leading facilities like the London 2012 Legacy Pool, the Wheelchair Fencing National Training Centre and the UK’s only outdoor push-start training track for bobsleigh and skeleton, alongside integrated support from coaches and performance specialists.
Stephen Baddeley, Director of Sport at the University of Bath, said: “We are incredibly proud to be reaccredited as a UK Sport Elite Training Centre, with this award recognising the strength of our partnerships with National Governing Bodies and the support we provide for athletes.
“Our day-to-day role is providing them with access to the best possible facilities but it is much more than that, it’s about creating a high-performance environment where everyone thrives and the athletes feel like part of the bigger picture.
“We look forward to continuing to work closely with UK Sport and partners across the system to build on this success and support future generations of athletes.”
To achieve UK Sport accreditation, centres must demonstrate excellence across areas including facilities, people, partnerships and athlete support, alongside a clear commitment to continuous improvement.
Elite Training Centres form part of a UK-wide network of high-performance environments, designed to support athletes, coaches and practitioners through collaboration, shared learning and access to world-class expertise.
