The Team Bath Sport Practitioners Academy is an exciting new initiative, created to provide University of Bath students with structured, hands-on learning opportunities that bridge the gap between academic study and professional practice.
The Academy is designed to help you develop the practical skills, confidence and experience needed to become a work-ready graduate, while making a meaningful contribution to Team Bath’s sporting programmes and partner organisations.

How the Academy works
The Academy follows a three-tier, competency-based progression model, allowing you to develop at your own pace:
- Learn – develop knowledge and core practical skills.
- Apply – gain supervised experience in real-world environments.
- Deliver/Deploy – demonstrate competence by independently delivering services or supporting Team Bath and external partners in sporting environments.
Students can enter the Academy at an appropriate level depending on their previous experience and the requirements of each development stream.
Development opportunities
The Academy offers a range of practical development streams, including opportunities such as:
- Video and performance analysis;
- Coaching delivery;
- Prehabilitation and recovery clinics;
- Skinfold assessment delivery;
- Screening and SCAT concussion testing;
- Performance testing in the field, gym and laboratory;
- GPS monitoring with sports teams.
Additional opportunities may become available as the Academy continues to grow.

How to apply
Applications for the Sport Practitioners Academy are now open. The deadline is 25th October 2026 and applications received after this date will not be considered during this intake.
