21 October 2019

The Pentathlon GB women’s squad and an England Netball squad featuring Team Bath’s Serena Guthrie and Eboni Usoro-Brown are among the Team of the Year nominees for The Sunday Times Sportswomen of the Year Awards 2019.

It has been a stellar year for the modern pentathletes based at the University of Bath with the women’s trio of Kate French, Jo Muir and Francesca Summers winning team gold at the European Championships – staged at the Sports Training Village in August – and silver at the World Championships.

There has also been individual medal success for French and Jess Varley on the international stage during an excellent 2019 campaign.

Meanwhile, Guthrie captained an England Roses side also featuring Team Bath colleague Usoro-Brown to a bronze medal at the Netball World Cup in Liverpool over the summer.

Also shortlisted for the Team of the Year prize are England’s national football and rugby union teams, Europe’s Solheim Cup golf team and sailors Hannah Mills and Eilidh McIntyre.

The winner will be decided by public vote – click here to have your say.
