Student Joshua Gammon all set for first big global event as Bath-based swimmers are selected for World Short Course Champs
University of Bath student-athlete Joshua Gammon will make his first appearance on the senior global stage when he represents Aquatics GB at the World Aquatics Short Course Swimming Championships in Budapest next month.
The Sports Performance student has joined the Aquatics GB Bath Performance Centre this season and will be competing in Hungary alongside two of his new training partners, fellow butterfly specialist Jacob Peters and Tokyo Olympic champion Freya Anderson.
Gammon, who made his international debut at the European Championships in June, was formerly with the University of Bath Swimming Club and, under the guidance of Andrei Vorontsov, won back-to-back British 200m butterfly titles in 2023 and 2024.
Also selected for the World Short Course Championships, taking place from 10-15 December, is Olympic silver-medallist Ben Proud, who represents the University of Bath Swimming Club and is seeking a third successive global short course medal.
New Aquatics GB Swimming Head Coach Steven Tigg said: “We are really looking forward to bringing this team together and getting some valuable early-season racing under the belt as we begin a fresh Olympic cycle towards LA.
“To be able to bring experienced Olympic and world performers like Ben and Freya together with some younger athletes who are starting out on exciting journeys in the sport is fantastic, and every single member of the team will undoubtedly get a lot out of the trip.”
