Double wheelchair fencing Paralympic gold-medallist Dimitri Coutya awarded MBE in New Year Honours 2025

Double Paralympic Champion Dimitri Coutya, who trains at the University of Bath, has been awarded an MBE in the New Year Honours 2025 for his services to fencing.

The wheelchair fencer enjoyed an outstanding Paris 2024 Paralympic Games which saw him win gold in both the Category B foil and epee, as well as silver and bronze in the team events with Piers Gilliver and Oliver Lam-Watson.

Gilliver had previously been awarded an MBE in the 2022 New Year Honours following his gold-medal success at the Tokyo Games in 2021.

Double Olympic rowing champion Helen Glover, who began her prestigious career with the GB Rowing Team World-Class Start Centre at the University, has been appointed an OBE for her services to the sport. Having won gold at London 2012 and Rio 2016, Glover was part of the women’s four that claimed silver in Paris.

David McNulty, lead coach of the Aquatics GB Bath Performance Centre based at the Team Bath Sports Training Village, was recently presented with an MBE at Windsor Castle following his recognition for services to swimming in the 2024 King’s Birthday Honours.
