Athletes with strong University of Bath links had their London 2012 successes recognised in the New Year’s Honours List, which was announced this morning (Saturday). Ivor Powell MBE, a former Welsh international footballer and long-serving coach at the University of Bath, passed away last night at the age of 96 after a short illness. After a playing, managerial and coaching career that took him to Aston Villa, Blackpool, Queens Park Rangers, Leeds United, Carlisle and PAOK of Greece, Ivor coached at the University for 37 years before retiring in 2010.
