Gymnastics

The Team Bath Rhythmic Gynnastics seniors that won gold at the 2018 British ChampionshipsThe University of Bath Sports Training Village is the home of Team Bath Rhythmic Gymnastics Club, the All-Round Senior Girls gold-medallists at the 2018 British Championships. Formerly known as City of Bath, the community club – which features on the CBBC Gym Stars television series – caters for a range of abilities from novice and development squads to international standards. Ahead of the London 2012 Olympic Games, we were proud to support Great Britain’s senior rhythmic gymnastics group with training facilities and support services. See the video below for details of their historic journey.

We remain a training base for the country’s elite rhythmic gymnasts, with the Team England squad staging regular camps at the STV in the build-up to the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games.

Student offering

The University of Bath’s SU Sport programme is open to gymnasts of all abilities, and runs gymnastics sessions throughout the year at nearby Baskerville’s Gymnastics Club.

Trampolining

British internationals Laura Gallagher and Kirsty Way are among many talented trampolinists who have used the Team Bath Sports Training Village for some of their training.

Tokyo 2020 Olympian Laura became a world champion in 2013, helping the British women’s team take gold at the Trampoline Gymnastics World Championships, while Kirsty – who also studied Sport & Exercise Science while training at the STV – won the European Double Mini-Trampoline (DMT) title in 2018 and has claimed team medals with GB at the World Championships.

The STV is also home to Team Bath Evolution Trampoline Club, which holds regular sessions on campus. Club member Pete Cracknell, who coached Kirsty Way during her time in Bath, helped the British men’s double mini trampoline team to bronze at the 2013 World Championships.

We also offer opportunities for students to get involved through our SU Sport trampolining programme, and young people from the age of two to have a go at trampolining through our Team Bath Tribe programme.
